SATB (A cappella)
“Good Christian Men, Rejoice!”, a German carol (“In Dulce Jubilo”) from the 14th century, was originally written half in German and half in Latin. Legend has it that the original words were revealed by angels to its writer, a 14th century mystic who, after the revelation, danced with his celestial visitors. The original text was first translated into English by John Wedderburn around 1540 (“Now Let Us Sing with Mirth and Joy”) and were modified by Reverend John M. Neale (1818-1866) in the 19th century.
