SATB (A cappella)
“Sussex Carol.” This carol was collected from a Mrs. Verrall of Monks Gate, Sussex by Ralph Vaughan Williams and first published in 1919. There is some evidence to suggest that the carol was written by an Irish bishop, Luke Wadding in 1684, although it is not clear whether he wrote the melody. The text used here is the first of two known tunes. Sussex is a county on the southern coast of England.
